I was able to do chapel today at a Christian School nearby, and it was a joy to be able to share the Word of God with teens! I was able to share from a verse in the book of Colossians. The context that surrounds this verse is talking about what we should look like as New Man of God. It is a Great passage of Scripture. We then come to verse 17, “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (NKJV) The verse is saying that no matter what we do we need to do as if we were doing it for Jesus. The passage doesn’t stop there, it keeps going and talks about how we should be giving thanks to God for allowing us to be able to do that deed. I made the comparison with the teens by asking them, ‘who do you do your homework for?’ There were several different answers: one said myself, one said my mom, another answered for the teacher. All of these were good answers, but they were not fully correct. As we learned from the passage, they should do there homework for Jesus. Later in the same chapter, verse 23 says, whatever we do, we need to it heartily. This has the idea of being all in for Jesus. So in verse 17 we see that we need to do the things we do for Jesus and in verse 23 we see that we need to be ‘all in’ in doing those things. So we need to be All in for Him. It seems so simple of a principle and something that we as adults think to be so trivial, but it is something that could and should change our thinking and our way of doing things. Do we do even the little things for Jesus? Do we do our jobs for Jesus? Do we wash the dishes for Jesus? Do we drive to appointments for Jesus? How about you, are you All in for Jesus?
