The Power of the Word!

How do we treat our Bibles? Do we treat them as if they are just another book? The Bible is so much more than just a book. It is a life source that we cannot ignore. There is power in the Word! Let’s take a look at the first time that we see the Words of God making a huge impact. In Genesis 1, we see God speaking and when He speaks the world that we live on is formed. God has done it again though, this time is is through the Bible that He speaks. There is power in the Bible just waiting to be tapped into. When we tap into it we can find peace, love, joy, conviction. These things though not all them pleasant are still good for us. The thing about it is that we need to tap into it in order to receive anything from it. For a moment lets look at Peter. Peter preached his first sermon on the day of Pentecost. In this sermon, Peter uses the Word of God through the prophet Joel. He was able to explain why the disciples were not drunk, but that they were speaking of the Good News of Jesus Christ. As Peter goes through his sermon we see that he tells the people that are standing there listening that they were the ones who put Jesus on the cross, but that this was part of God’s plan for their redemption. The power that not only the Word of God has, but that the changing power of the message that the Word of God has in the Gospel. The fact that every single one of us is a sinner. We have all done something that has broken the laws of God, but God has provided a way of redemption through Jesus Christ and His death, burial, and resurrection. There is life changing power there and that is the story of the Word of God. So the question that I have for you is are tapping into the power of God? Have you accepted the ultimate gift that God has given? If you Bible just another book, or is it a source of power?
